In 44 BCE, the plot to kill Caesar is about to take place. You are a citizen conspiring to kill Caesar, or one trying to save him, or an opportunist biding your time.
You move around Rome swaying people to your cause, being swayed yourself, and placing the fate of Caesar’s life in your hands as you play knife and dove cards into the Forum. Issue cards are voted upon once a round and can give crucial information about the citizens, affect the fate of Caesar in small ways, advance the game’s clock, and a myriad of other effects.
As a citizen, you also have a special ability – but you need to reveal yourself in order to activate your power. And if someone doesn’t like your standing, you can be called to exile.
An exciting game of ever-changing allegiances and a final breath-holding moment when determining whether Caesar will live or die.
At the end of the game, if 23 or more knives are in the Curia, Caesar is dead and the liberator most committed to killing Caesar wins. With fewer than 23 knives, the loyalist most dedicated to saving Caesar wins. Opportunists are those who linger, waiting to shift the fate of Caesar at the last moment, and if they do, they win as a team.
