The Case of the Missing Table
Over the last several months, we've been working to offer our first. . .we'll call it “semi-private” game room. We've cleared out our back storage room and tidied it up a bit. We've moved one of our full-sized, accessible tables to that space, and are in the process of testing its use with a small group of customers.
The room will be offered as a paid rental beginning in early 2020, once we've had time to paint the walls, upgrade the decor, and outfit it with a few accomodations that we think our guests will enjoy.
Moving the table into place has also afforded us the additional benefit of giving folks a little more space in the rest of the shoppe, allowing everyone to be a little more comfortable while they're spending time with us.
Limited Trial Run Through 2019
For the remainder of the year, we're limiting access to a small group of customers – those that have redeemed Rewards Points to become a Member Meeple in the shoppe. Those guests can use their points to rent the room between now and the end of the year. We believe the room can handle eight people comfortably, so a Member Meeple can reserve it for their board game group, their D&D session, or miniatures game. Basically, whatever they'd normally play on public tables but with a little more privacy.
For the moment, the rental process is very informal – if you're a Member Meeple, and would like to reserve it, message us on FaceBook, or contact the shoppe, and request a time. At the moment, the minimum reservation time is 4 hours, with hourly increments after that (so it may be rented for 4, 5, 6, etc hours at a time).
We still have a lot of work to do in the room, of course, so there will be times when the room is unavailable while we work on the build-out.
The Future – Streaming Capabilities
Ultimately, we're working to create a space to allow us to record and stream certain events – whether it's the top table of a competitive tournament, product unboxing, or other shoppe related announcement.
We've worked with our D4 friends, and they've helped us come up with a compelling multi-camera setup that should give us a lot of flexibilty in the space.
Of course, guests using the space will also have the opportunity to take advantage these facilities once we have them in place. Some of this will be a basic part of the rental (like the fixed lighting and sound dampening) while others (like cameras, mics, etc) will be a separate offering to help keep the basic rental costs down.
Interested?
If you're a current Member Meeple and would like to rent out the room now (using points), or are interested in renting the room when we go live in 2020, please feel free to drop us a note at Reservations@meeplemadness.com.
If you have questions about this, or anything else going on in the shoppe, please let us know!
