We're not going to lie to you folks; the holidays often wreak havoc on shipping schedules, so we're always a little nervous when talking about dates this time of year. For example, the newest rules supplement for Warhammer 40,000 – Chapter Approved – release this past Saturday, but FedEx has been having all sort of issues trying to get it to our shoppe. We're told it'll be in store on Monday, so we'll be contacting all of our special orders as soon as it arrives, so they can enjoy all the goodness the new ruleset has to offer.
This week will also see the arrival of the newest Legend of the Five Rings dynasty pack and a standalone board game, Battle for Rokugan, that allows players to experience the Legend of the Five Rings universe in a completely new way.
‘Battle for Rokugan puts two to five players in the roles of Rokugani daimyō fighting for territory in the early days of the Emerald Empire. The beautifully illustrated game board transports players to this new world that is ripe for the taking. The land of Rokugan is divided into territories that belong to each of the seven honorable clans: Crab, Crane, Dragon, Phoenix, Lion, Scorpion, and Unicorn, that have been battling for dominance since their foundation by the Kami.
The players' ultimate goal is to conquer as many of Rokugan's provinces as possible to gain honor for their clan and prove that their people are truly superior, and the only clan fit to guide the Empire.'
Of course, we're all very excited about the upcoming Star Wars movie, and this week we'll have the newest wave of Star Wars: X-Wing models available, starting on Thursday. Whether you're looking forward to the new TIE Sliencer, the Alpha-Class Star Wing, M12-L Kimogila, or the Phantom II, it's a great week to expand your squadrons. If you're new to Star Wars: X-Wing, it's also a great week to come in and explore this fantastic miniatures game.
Beyond the new releases for Star Wars, we'll also be hosting our Star Wars Showdown on Saturday. We'll be giving out tickets all day long for a chance to win one gigantic TIE Fighter model! You've probably seen this beast sitting on our Coke refrigerator, but it's twin has been quietly sitting, new in box, waiting for the perfect time to be given away. You can spend the day learning new Star Wars games, playing in casual pickup games, or just sporting your favorite Star Wars T-Shirt or Cosplay. Whatever you do that's Star Wars related, you can earn a free ticket. One lucky ticket will be pulled at 9:00 PM Saturday, and that person will go home with their very own Special Forces TIE Fighter!
Saturday isn't just about Star Wars. We're also participating in the Lord of The Rings Fellowship 2017 event! We'll be kicking it off in the shoppe at 1:00 PM on Saturday. We are limited to six parties of players. What's a party? Well, it's you and up to three friends or, if you prefer solo play, just you.
Each party will receive an advanced copy of Assault on Dol Guldur, a Galadriel promo card, and an exclusive fellowship playmat. Parties can choose to combine with other parties to play the scenario in Epic Multiplayer mode, or they can venture out on their own. The entry fee is $20.00 per party.
Also, we've received our first shipment of Heroclix in the shoppe, and are starting to support that system. If you're looking for a fun collectible miniatures game, Heroclix is the most popular system out there. With models from Marvel, DC, and even Star Trek, they've got something for just about everyone. We have a demo teams available for you to check it out, so stop by and get in a trial game sometime this week!
We'll be carrying a modest selection of Heroclix products as we build up the community in our area. As we grow, we'll be adding more to the mix including official tournaments and other cool events.
What else is in the shoppe this week? How about Scythe's long-awaited expansion: The Wind Gamit! That's right, airships are coming to the world of Scythe, and we couldn't be more excited about it. We'll also have new titles like Kingsburg and Otys, and lots of restocks coming in throughout the week.
