I think this news is big enough to warrant its own post. We submitted our application to Games Workshop on Sunday evening, hoping they'd consider us as a retailer. On Monday, I received my first call from one of their representatives. They seemed genuinely excited about our store – they had reviewed our location, and recognized that we could be good resource for the gaming community. We chatted for a bit, and he explained how the application process would work, and had some suggestions on items to stock. Today we got formal approval – we're setup in their system, and they're ready to take our order. We're very excited to be able to work with them directly. While we had secured agreements with some of their distributors already, those distributors don't have their full product lines, nor do they have the branded racks and other materials that will help make Games Workshop stand out in the store.
While we won't be making our purchase until closer to the store opening, we've started loading the order information into our purchasing spreadsheet, so we're ready to go as soon as soon as the store built-out.
There's more news to report, but we're going to enjoy the Games Workshop relationship for a bit more before we post anything else.
